TMZ reports the FBI is investigating if a phishing scam could have caused the massive leak of celebrity nude photos.
The site claims celebs may have been deceived by a very convincing fake message that appeared to come from Apple requesting they send personal information.
TMZ claims investigators are trying to determine if Upton-- along with other stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Lea Michele-- could have been the targets of a phishing scam that eventually gave hackers access to their phones, causing nude snapshots of the actresses to leak.
Though initial reports pinned the blame on a security issue with Apple’s iCloud and Find My iPhone features, Apple has since said their systems were not breached. More
